Valentine King and Queen Were Engaged on Valentine’s Day 65 Years Ago
It seemed only fitting that a couple engaged on Valentine’s Day 65 years ago should be crowned Valentine King and Queen 2013 at Wesley Commons on Valentine’s Day.
Everett and Janet Fitts, who moved to Wesley Commons from Rochester, N.Y., eight years ago, met while attending Oberlin College and married on Labor Day in 1948.
He served as minister of several churches in the Rochester area over a 32-year period, while she served as an elementary music teacher. They are the parents of four children.
Everett sang “Let Me Call You Sweetheart,” while Janet accompanied him on the piano during the Valentine’s Pageant at Wesley Commons, a non-profit continuing care retirement community in Greenwood.
